BDI is proud to congratulate team member Hoare Lea on their First-Place award from the prestigious Acoustic Noise Consultants (ANC) for their exceptional and technically advanced works on the Cambridge Ground Run Enclosure (GRE).
The ANC awards promote and recognise excellence among UK acoustic consultants and raise the profile of acoustics. The awards specifically look for examples of work that demonstrate value and quality for the client, collaboration with project stakeholders, have potential to benefit future projects, and go beyond current good practice.
Said BDI’s UK Business Manager, Nick Smith: “Hoare Lea’s commitment and support throughout the project was superb. Their team of acousticians went above and beyond to solve the challenges and ensure the progress of the project. It is very fitting that they produced technically advanced systems to support the construction of one of the most technically advanced Ground Run Enclosures in the world. The award is well deserved.”
Of key note was the creation of an auralisation sound suite that could acoustically demonstrate the improvement the GRE would provide at specific noise-sensitive receptors around the airport, including schools and parks. Hoare Lea also designed and produced an innovative ‘real-time’ noise data collection network system, offering a complete back-up system (‘full redundancy’), that could be quickly deployed to take the source noise levels of an alternative jet aircraft for the commissioning during the very short time the runway could be closed. This was all above and beyond the standard modelling, measurements, and support involved in the projections, public consultation, client discussions, and proving of the GRE acoustic performance.
Technically advanced systems to support a technically advanced BDI Ground Run Enclosure. Congratulations Hoare Lea!
