The new Ashgabat International Airport did not just feature a falcon-shaped passenger terminal, it also featured a state-of-the-art MRO facility with a BDI GRE, the first of its kind in Central Asia. This GRE can accommodate up to a B747-400. Acceptance testing was successfully carried out with an Ilyushin Il-76, an extremely loud and aerodynamically challenging aircraft.
