Airbus required a 4-sided GRE with motorized doors, automated wheel chocks, and other sophisticated features to allow usability in virtually all wind conditions. The facility is used several times each day for engine tests of new A320-family aircraft. Despite the extremely challenging wind conditions typical to the Hamburg Finkenwerder Airport, the facility continues to provide unparalleled aerodynamic performance and usability.
