American Airlines uses BDI deflectors at a number of maintenance bases around the United States. Their two primary MRO facilities, Tulsa and DFW, have extensive installations of BDI deflectors. For this project, AA had BDI inspect several existing deflectors and certify their use with B777 aircraft new to their fleet. The certification process entailed two instrumented field tests with aircraft running at full power.
