The Tennessee ANG required a large “hush house”, or ground run-up enclosure, to accommodate one of the largest aircraft to be produced—the Lockheed Martin C-5 Galaxy. BDI had already designed and supplied numerous GRE facilities for A380 and B747 aircraft, and that experience was useful for this project. The result was a facility that allowed high usability in varying wind conditions. Acceptance testing was successfully carried out with a C-5A and, several years later, BDI was engaged to recertify the facility for use with Boeing C-17 aircraft as mission requirements changed.
