Protecting ILS with Non-Ferrous Fiberglass Deflector in Argentina

Project Details

Location: Aeroparque Internacional Jorge Newbery
Buenos Aires, Argentina
Project: Deflector de Fibra de Vidrio
Contractor: Jose J. Chediack SAICA
Owner: Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 S.A.
Challenges:
  • Very limited period for design, fabrication, and delivery.
  • Customer needed red and white panels for aesthetic and safety requirements.

The Aeroparque Internacional Jorge Newbery required 80 meters of non-ferrous fiberglass deflector measuring 4.3 meters in height. Non-ferrous fiberglass was used due to its close vicinity to the instrument landing systems (ILS). Red and white coloring became essential since the deflector would reside at the end of a runway giving an aesthetically pleasing result.
