Calgary Jet Blast Barrier

Air Canada’s Maintenance Run-ups Performed with BDI Deflector

Project Details

Location: Calgary International Airport
Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Project: GSE Building Relocation
Contractor: Ellis-Don Construction Services
Owner: Calgary Airport Authority
Challenges:
  • Thrust rating required extremely heavy-duty structure
  • Cold-weather anchor installation
  • Challenging site geometry

Air Canada’s maintenance base in Calgary required a heavy-duty, curved jet blast deflector for full power engine testing. BDI’s solution was a 6-meter (20-foot) tall deflector that protects an airport operations building immediately behind the test position.
