Albany Ground Run-up Facility

BDI Completes First GRE in New York

Project Details

Location: Albany International Airport
Albany, USA
Project: Ground Run-up Enclosure, Foundations & Structure
Owner: Albany County Airport Authority
Challenges:
  • Challenging site geometry
  • Tight conformance to applicable regulations
  • Challenging acoustics

Maintenance operations by Commutair and Colgan Air created a noise challenge for the Albany Airport Authority. The solution was to install a state-of-the-art ground run-up enclosure, specifically designed for turboprop and RJ aircraft. Despite being one of the smallest GREs designed by BDI, this facility includes all the critical aerodynamic features required for high usability in all wind conditions.
