Boeing’s compass calibration area required a jet blast deflector to allow engine run-ups to carried out safely. The challenge was that the deflector needed to be nonferrous. BDI’s solution was to offer an aluminum version of its U-Series deflector, which is rated for full power velocities of all Boeing aircraft. Other blast deflector material offered by BDI includes galvanized steel, stainless steel, Galvalume, aluminized steel, and fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP).
