Project Details
Location: Oakland County International Airport
Pontiac, USA
Project: Design & Build Aircraft Ground Run-up Enclosure
Customer: Oakland County
Owner: Oakland County
Challenges:
- Challenging site geometry
- Tight conformance to applicable regulations
- Challenging aerodynamics
This was the first GRE in North America built exclusively for general aviation aircraft. This facility can accommodate up to a BBJ (pushback), though most operations are by small jet aircraft that are self-maneuvered into position without the use of a tug. Given the proximity of the airport to America’s Motor City, the GRE has even been used as a backdrop for high-profile automobile press releases.
