Project Details
Location: Detroit Metro Airport
Detroit, USA
Project: Ground Run-up Enclosure Facility for Metro Airport
Owner: Wayne County Airport Authority
Challenges:
- Challenging site geometry
- Tight conformance to applicable regulations
- Challenging acoustics
The ground run-up enclosure at Detroit Metro Airport is used for all run-up operations at the airport. BDI’s scope included an analysis of potential NAVAID impacts, which is why the exterior of the facility includes unique “stealth” features to avoid false-positives of ground radar and other NAVAID signals. The facility is designed to accommodate up to a B747-8.
