Project Details
Location: Miami-Dade International Airport
Miami, USA
Owner: National Airline
Challenges:
- Thrust rating required extremely heavy-duty structure
- Tight conformance to applicable regulations
The National Airlines maintenance facility in Miami had many different BDI deflectors. The most notable was the U35, which had a height of over 35’ (10.5 m). This type of deflector is still widely used today for engine run-ups of DC-10 and MD-11 aircraft.
