Campia Turzi GS12-2 Jet Blast Deflector

NATO Base Gets Afterburner Deflector

Project Details

Location: Campia Turzii Air Base
Cluj County, Romania
Project: Upgrade Airfield Trim Pad and Lighting
Contractor: SKE International
Owner: United States Air Force
Challenges:
  • Structure needed to be rated for high temperatures (780°F/415°C)
  • Remote project location
  • Multi-phased project required careful coordination with main contractor

This project required a jet blast deflector suitable for running fighter aircraft at full afterburner. BDI’s GS series is the worldwide standard for unabated power check pads and can withstand the extreme temperatures and velocities of this application. Virtually all USAF bases, and many NATO bases, are equipped with GS-series jet blast deflectors by BDI.
