Challenges:
- Create scale model of GRE and C-130 for aerodynamic tests, complete with accurately scaled propeller blades.
The development of a 4-sided ground run-up enclosure for Marshall Aerospace entailed extensive scale model testing and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling, all done in-house by BDI. The purpose of the scale model testing was to validate CFD results, further evaluate how the facility would perform in various wind conditions, and further evaluate any impact adjacent structures would have on air flow.
