Two New Run-up Deflectors for United Airlines

Project Details

Location: George Bush Intercontinental Airport
Houston, USA
Project: United Technical Operations Center, Bldg X, WB Maintenance Hangar
Contractor: Manhattan Construction
Owner: United Airlines
Challenges:
  • Thrust rating required extremely heavy-duty structure
  • Tight conformance to applicable regulations

UAL’s new maintenance facility at IAH required two full power jet blast deflectors and a number of taxi-duty blast fences. For the two run-up positions, BDI supplied 21-foot (6.5-meter) tall U-Series deflectors which are widely used by aircraft manufacturers and MROs for engine testing.
