Vancouver Ground Run up Enclosure

Vancouver International Builds First GRE In Canada

Project Details

Location: Vancouver International Airport
Vancouver, Canada
Project: Ground Run-up Enclosure C11-ENG-07
Owner: Vancouver International Airport Authority
Challenges:
  • Cold-weather anchor installation
  • Challenging acoustics

This GRE is used for full power ground runs of commercial and general aviation aircraft, which includes a wide variety of jet and turboprop aircraft that are unique to the region. This GRE also doubles as a deicing facility for YVR’s small aircraft operations. The asymmetric design of the side walls was intentionally designed to provide optimal acoustic performance for nearby communities. The unique cladding and signage on the exterior of the facility presents the airport’s message to the community.
